Bigg Boss, which started airing on Sony TV in 2006, gained extensive viewership all over India, owing to the element of controversy that it involved. Based on the Dutch reality show, Big Brother, which isolated a group of contestants and watched each move they made, became highly popular with small screen audiences. The show has had several presenters, including Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty, and Amitabh Bachchan, but Salman Khan, who hosted it for five years, catapulted the show to success. The show has seen a multitude of winners, the most popular faces being Shweta Tiwari, Gauhar Khan, Rahul Roy and Asutosh Kaushik. The presenters of the show have won many television awards. With eight successful seasons in its kitty, we are all gearing up for Season 9. There has been a lot of speculation about the contestants we will get to see this season. Irrespective of who the producers decide to invite, here’s our wish list of guests we would love to watch on the show.
1. Yo Yo Honey Singh
This Punjabi rapper who shot to fame (good or bad, we aren’t sure) with the song “Main Hoon Balatkaari”, has been in and out of controversies from the very beginning of his career. He claims the song wasn’t sung by him, but that’s not where the argument ends. It was recently rumored that his ‘elder brother’ Shahrukh slapped him on a joint promotional event. Oh, he’s also following in the footsteps of his Western counterparts, spending loads of time in rehab for substance abuse. Well, apart from all the trouble he’s been in; let’s see what fun he brings into Bigg Boss Season 9.
2. Radhe Maa
This self-proclaimed ‘Godwoman’ has recently been in the news more than expected. First, photos of her wearing miniskirts were leaked, which of course she claims were morphed. Second, she has been accused and arrested for inciting Mumbai’s Gupta family members, who have long been her followers, of harassing their daughter-in-law for dowry. To top that, there have been shocking allegations that this spiritual leader has sexually assaulted many during her satsangs. Since Bigg Boss is the house of controversies, it would certainly be interesting to see what twist Radhe Maa brings to the show.
3. Raghu Ram
Raghu Ram is best known for his 11-year stint as a judge on the MTV show, Roadies. Love him or hate him, you just can’t ignore him. Along with his brother Rajiv Lakshman, Raghu is famous for the abundant use of cuss words on their show. Recently though, the brothers are no longer a part of Roadies. People have put the entire blame on Raghu Ram’s bad temper, which he vehemently denies. Judge on one of the most famous shows on Indian television, let’s see how you fare in its competition.
4. Rahul Yadav
Yadav is the co-founder and ex-CEO of Housing.com, who has been in the limelight for being booted out following his unforgivable behavior towards clients and the media. Since his kind of attitude perfectly matches the controversial show, roping him in as a contestant might be a good choice.
5. VJ Bani
Well, Gurbani Judge (famous as VJ Bani) gained popularity as an unusual Roadies contender. She clearly stated that she would not play mind games with fellow contestants and was ridiculed because of that. Later, however, the tattoo queen had the last laugh, since she became an MTV VJ and started signing Bollywood films. Outspoken in nature, it would be a pleasure to see her in the Bigg Boss house for season 9.
6. Baba Ramdev
Well, someone does need to give Radhe Maa a run for her money, and who could do so better than Baba Ramdev? The godman has been in several controversial situations, including being criticized for evading tax and dealing in black money. Also, he caused a stir amongst the LGBT community of India when he condemned same sex relationships for being against Vedic culture. Well, if only he became one of the Bigg Boss contestants, it would be quite intriguing to see everyone in the house doing his famous ‘anulom vilom’ pranayama every morning.
7. Poonam Pandey
This Kingfisher Calendar girl has always made news, owing to her brash and bold personality. She has been dubbed Indian glamour world’s “controversy child”, especially since she admits that she can strip at the drop of a hat. Be it the cricket World Cup, or a kabaddi match, she has no issues shedding her clothes when her favorite team wins. For the sake of all those oggling eyes, let’s keep the ‘Nasha’ star in our Bigg Boss Season 9 wishlist.
8. Shruti Seth
Remember the pretty teenager with magical powers from the sitcom ‘Shararat’? That’s Shruti Seth for you. After receiving critical acclaim for her supporting role in Kajol-Aamir Khan starrer, Fanaa, Seth has recently been in the spotlight for commenting against Narendra Modi’s #selfiewithdaughter, on Twitter. Since then, Modi as well as his followers have been retaliating against her. For her courage to speak out, Seth might just be a brilliant contender for Bigg Boss.
9. Mallika Sherawat
Think of a Bollywood sex symbol and Mallika Sherawat is bound to be remembered. Known not only for her bold portrayals onscreen, but also her blatant expression of opinions, Sherawat has made it to the news on several occasions. The number of kisses she shared with her co-stars might have been the topic of big discussions, but she shocked the world, when after several years of her career, her earlier marriage to a pilot was disclosed. This actress’ inclusion in Bigg Boss would definitely up the gossip quotient in the TV series.
10. Siddharth Mallya
First, Siddharth Mallya is business tycoon and Kingfisher owner, Vijay Mallya’s son. Second, he’s a well-known model in the fashion arena, having been the show stopper for Komal Sood. Third, this rich, young man owns the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL cricket team. Finally, he was in the news for quite some time as Deepika Padukone’s beau. For someone with those good looks and the intention of making it big in showbiz, Bigg Boss Season 9 wouldn’t be a bad idea.
11. Sana Saeed
Sana Saeed is probably one of the most adored child stars that modern Hindi cinema has ever seen. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai saw this cute girl winning the hearts of millions as Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Anjali. Recently, she appeared in Student of the Year, alongside Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra, though all her role entitled was pouting her lips and flaunting her body. However, just in memory of her cute childhood face, we want her to appear in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss.
12. Shweta Basu Prasad
Another well-loved child actor, Sweta Basu Prasad, who won the National Award at the age of 11 for her role in ‘Makdee’, faced trouble last year, when she was arrested in a prostitution racket. Recently, the allegations were proven wrong, but the young girl admits to have been scarred for life. Well, simply for the controversies she has been through, we would love to hear her out in Season 9 of Bigg Boss.
13. Kim Kardashian
Want some hot quotient in Bigg Boss? If so, Kim Kardashian would make an ideal contestant in the highly popular television show. Since the time this model and socialite shot to fame following the leaking of a sex tape, she has been a constant favorite with newsmakers. Be it her butt, relationships, or her pregnancy, Kim never fails to get attention. It would be enthralling to see how she fares in Bigg Boss.
14. Salman Khan
To finish this wish list in style, what could be a better choice than Sallu bhai himself? This year, it has been rumored that Salman Khan who made Bigg Boss famous, as its presenter, will no longer be making appearance on the show. Instead, Farah Khan has been roped in by the producers of the show. As audiences, we would still love to see our Bhaijaan on the small screen, and that’s why we want him in the upcoming season.
